When I decide to go traveling, I always allow myself the time and freedom to explore at will. That is, I do not force myself to a particular schedule, and I provide more than ample time to discover the hidden secrets of my new, if only temporary home. On the other hand, upon actually moving to a new location, I often find spare time a rarity. Like the millions of New Yorkers who have never visited the Statue of Liberty, so to have I been neglectful of all my new home of San Diego has to offer, not only as an explorer, but as a photographer, and blogger as well.
This is why the arrival of my parents, hailing from across the country in The Garden State, afforded me great opportunity. It is easy to fall into the same old BBQ-every-weekend routine with new friends, especially in a town blessed with year-round sun and warmth, but when someone new comes around, it is always the perfect excuse to escape this pattern, and a wonderful reminder that there are new experiences always waiting in your own backyard. In our case, there were hikes at Torrey Pines and Balboa Park, a botanic garden, the flower fields at Carlsbad, and a breathtaking view of Point Loma with a pit stop at the tide pools, to name a few. Welcome back to my blog (sorry about the wait) and keep checking back. There is definitely more on the horizon. Thanks for a great weekend Mom and Dad!
Happy Travels,
Evan
